A woman came to Darien Police Headquarters stating that Darien resident James Reilly, 59, had violated a restraining offer that had been applied for due to a physical altercation the two had during their relationship.

On Tuesday, Nov. 19, police said that Reilly was served notice of the order, which forbids him from contacting his victim. Despite the court order, Reilly allegedly texted and called his victim saying “please call me,” with a photo of a check.

Reilly’s alleged victim did not answer, and instead went to the police.

The following day, on Wednesday, Nov. 20, Reilly sent another picture of another check that the victim had left at their house, while she was temporarily staying at a hotel.

According to police, the picture could only have been taken if Reilly had entered the victim’s home - which is forbidden - and a family member said that Reilly had been staying at the home, also involution of the order.

An arrest warrant was issued and Reilly turned himself in to police custody on Sunday, Nov. 24. He’s currently being held in lieu of $100,000 bond and is due back in court on Monday, Nov. 25.
