YORKTOWN, N.Y. - The annual college fair held at Putnam Northern Westchester Board of Cooperative Educational Services Tech Center in Yorktown gave students the opportunity to learn about careers from chef to fashion designer.
The fair, which hosted schools such as the Culinary Institute of America, Pace, Mery College as well as many SUNY schools gave students like Hendrick Hudsons Devon Sherman an idea of what he might want to pursue after high school. Sherman said the fair was really interesting after stopping by to look at information from the Lincoln Culinary Institute booth.
According to Elaine Anderson, a cosmetology student from Somers who plans to study either nursing or special education in college the wide range of schools at the fair made the event exciting.
Its really helpful, having all these schools here and hearing from the representatives, she said.
Representatives from the armed services and community colleges were also on hand for interested students, and before the fair counselors met with all the classes on how to best use their time at the fair.
I really think its cool how many colleges are here, said Cosmetology student Melissa Slattery from Lakeland. You can really talk to people and get so much information about so many different opportunities.
