BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Former U.S. Rep. Nan Hayworth of Bedford, whose former district includes parts of Northern Westchester and Putnam, has announced her support for Republican Carly Fiorina for president.
Hayworth, a physician from Bedford, represented the 19th Congressional District in the House of Representatives from 2011-13 and served on the Financial Services Committee.
Hayworth, along with former presidential aide Becki Fleisher and state Assemblyman Kieran Lalor, will serve as Fiorina's co-chairs in New York and lead the effort to continue to build support for Carly's candidacy in the Empire State.
Hayworth said: "Carly Fiorina has it all: sound and sensible judgment, successful executive experience, a great gift for communicating our shared values, and a compelling vision for individual liberty that comes from having worked for and achieved the American dream. She's conquered challenges -- as a businesswoman, wife and mother, and cancer survivor -- with determination, courage and grace. That's why I accepted eagerly when Carly invited me to help her campaign, and why I'm honored to stand beside her in this presidential race."
Together, Hayworth, Fleischer, and Lalor will help build a grass-roots network of support in New York and communicate why Fiorina's background is what the nation needs in its next president.
Fiorina is one of more than a dozen Republicans seeking the party's nomination for president.
