Mario L. Chiacchia, 78, Katonah Resident

KATONAH, N.Y. -- Mario L. Chiacchia, of Katonah, died on Monday, March 28. He was 78.

Born in Mount Kisco, Chiacchia graduated from Bedford Hills High School. He then joined the U.S. Army and served in Germany for two and a half years. He was the owner-operator of Haines Road Service Center in Bedford Hills for 50 years.

Chiacchia loved, gardening, boating and all things mechanical.

He is survived by Vera Cook; children Mario "Chip" Jr., Robert, Carol Dreska and Christina; grandchildren Russell, Gregory, Michael, Brittany, Brandon, Bobby Jr. and Anthony; four great-grandchildren; siblings Santino, Rosemarie Pochintesta and Sophie Diamond; and many nieces and nephews.

Chiacchia was predeceased by his parents, William and Anna Chiacchia, and his brother, William.

Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, April 1, at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd., in Katonah. The mass will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 55 Valley Rd., in Katonah. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Lexington Avenue, in Mount Kisco.
