KATONAH, N.Y. -- Along Katonah Ave., it is hit or miss in terms of businesses being open. For those that are, they are seeing a surge in customers.
We ran out of everything, said Manny Claro of Wooden Nickel Deli.
He said they were completely sold out and had requests to sell ice. Down the street at Charles Department Store, they were selling tons of supplies: batteries, flashlights, candles, fire starters and barbecue grills.
People are looking for sump pumps, ice or dry ice to keep food from spoiling, said Martin Teeman operations manager at Katonah Paint and Hardware.
Weve been very busy during the day because of (train) tracks down, said Adam Ottley at Katonah Wine and Liquor.
Still, many businesses remain closed either because employees cant get there or they dont know that power has been restored to shops.
