BEDFORD, N.Y.As your cleaning out your kids closet this season, consider donating some of the clothes they have grown out of to a good cause that will benefit kids throughout Westchester County.
The Westchester Jewish Community Services is calling on its Mt Kisco and Bedford neighbors to donate clothes to the organizations new program Pass It On Kids Kloset.
This program helps provide necessities to children who are in need. Items being collected include gently-used clothing, strollers and car seats.
Summer is a great time for families to sort through their childrens clothes and donate gently-used items that no longer fit, said Stephanie Roth, Kids Kloset Coordinator. Its also a good opportunity to pass on items that children have outgrown, such as Pack n Plays and cars eats."
Many families in communities throughout Westchester, including Mt Kisco and Bedford, are struggling given the state of the economy.
Although there is tremendous wealth in our community, nearly 12% of Westchesters children age 0-18 years live in poverty. Kids Kloset helps to bridge that gap for those families in need, Roth said.
Donations can be dropped off at the Westchester Jewish Community Services headquarters in White Plains, N.Y. on 845 North Broadway from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment at Kids Kloset.
