MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- It is now more than 20 years ago that Natalie Swatz applied to work at a then-new Mount Kisco eatery taking pizza orders and greeting customers.
These days, she is the general manager of Bellizzi Restaurant, and a lot has changed since then. It now has a game room and dining room on-site, as well as a smorgasbord of dinner menu items. Swatz said her career at Bellizzi has overlapped with its growth in Mount Kisco, so she has gotten to watch that continued success from behind the counter.
Over the years, Ive gotten to know the business and its customers, she said. Ive watched it become a niche in the community for families with young children.
Swatz has also watched those young children grow into adults and bring their own families to Bellizzi. She said she still gets recognized by loyal patrons from when she managed childrens birthday parties years ago.
Ive had people come here and say I remember when you worked my sons fifth birthday party,' Swatz said.
Those experiences are part of what made her realize she has a passion for Bellizzi and a passion for working with customers, which Swatz said is common to most of the employees.
Everyones really committed to the business as if it was their own, she said. Its now a pillar of the community.
Its clear Swatz and her co-workers also have a passion for great food, which is why it was tough for her to choose which one of Bellizzi's pizzas was her favorite.
After much deliberation, she settled on the Brooklyn Pizza, which is comprised of California tomatoes, fresh basil, Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and fresh basil topped with Mozzarella fresca.
