KATONAH, N.Y. Most parents have a few photos lying around of their children committing a laughable act or two. Local professional photographer Jamie Kilgore knows the feeling, and wants to reward three families for their photographs.
Jamie Kilgore Photography, through contest Funny in February, will be giving away three free children photography sessions for the three funniest photos on her Facebook fan page in the categories Babies, Toddlers, and Youth. Parents will need to send in their photo or photos to info@jamiekilgorephotography.com. Because the contest will take place on Facebook, it will also be to help online visibility, says assistant Liana Felt.
Its helping Jamie promote the business, and making her Facebook page more accessible to people, Felt said. Were trying to drive traffic to the page.
Felt added that social media is a great way to get people involved and interested in photography, and its an easy way to contact and keep in touch with clients.
Parents are asked to send in their photos until Feb. 29, which is the day before Kilgore and Felt will be putting the photos up on their fan page, all at the same time.
While some might say the contest could promote the photographer in us, Kilgore says that the contest will also show the main differences in hiring a professional to take family photos.
People take lots of great pictures of their own kids, and a lot more people are photo editing as well, but Ive been in business for 11 years, and the people know the difference, Kilgore said. For a professional, its still a much different medium, and thats why the people come to me. They know the kind of pictures theyll get when they come to me.
