From Hotel to Restaurant Manager, Hard Work Pays Off

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. – As he packed up his desk at the Jamaican resort he was managing at the time, Glenmore Dalling came across a long-forgotten business card.

The card belonged to Isi Albanese, owner of Bellizzi Restaurant in Mount Kisco, and it was given to Dalling many years before when Albanese and his wife, Fran, stayed at the Jamaican resort on vacation. Dalling now remembers the couple was so impressed by his service, which included organizing the hotel’s entertainment activities, that they ended up staying an additional week and sent his supervisor a glowing letter of praise after they went home.

“They said to look them up if I was ever in New York,” Dalling remembered. “I took it lightly at the time.”

But he never forgot the Albaneses’ offer. A few years later, when personal circumstances brought Dalling closer to family in New York, the first thing he did was call Bellizzi Restaurant to inquire about a job opportunity. He has served as manager there for the past 12 years.

“I came over on a Saturday, and Isi and I sat and talked about what my ideas were for the place, and we talked about upgrading the birthday parties and entertainment here,” said the Mount Vernon resident. “They made me manager soon after because they knew my potential. God works in mysterious ways.”

These days, Dalling tends to the daily responsibilities that come with managing Bellizzi Restaurant. And just as the Albaneses’ helped him those years ago, he now helps them give back to the community.

They do that by offering special rates on pizza pies to the Bedford Central School District and organizations in the area, such as Mount Kisco Child Care Center and programs like the Bedford Golf and Tennis summer camp.
