The Manhattan resident was recruited by two members of the church—Nick and Edmee Firth—who were inspired by his latest book, “The Constant Choice: An Everyday Journey From Evil Toward Good.”
“They reached out to me after they had read the book and asked if I would come and speak,” said Georgescu. "I was flattered."
Georgescu’s 35-minute talk at the congregation took his audience through the tales in his book, which is, in essence, his journey from captivity in a Romanian labor camp to his role as CEO of an advertising agency.
“Speaking in a church that has so much history was a wonderful experience,” Georgescu said of St. Mary’s Church, which was built in 1851.
While the church is not used on a regular basis, it is used for special occasions such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and special events.
