KATONAH, N.Y. -- A performance of Beethoven sonatas by pianist and Curtis Institute of Music instructor Jonathan Biss at the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts in Katonah was praised in Sunday's edition of The New York Times.
The article applauded Biss's choice to play some of Beethoven's "deep cuts" and that he kept the audience enthralled, despite a humid night, steady rain and even a pesky skunk that came near the outdoor stage.
Biss played several of Beethoven's Sonatas, including No. 24 in F-sharp, No. 15 in D, No. 16 in G and No. 21 in C, according to the article.
The article related that Biss had a "deep understanding of the works" and that the performance was "something special."
