Katonah's Country Children's Center To Host Special Events For Children

KATONAH, N.Y. -- The Country Children's Center will hold its annual celebration of the "Week of the Young Child" from Monday, April 7 through Friday, April 11, at all of its child care sites.

The week will feature special events for CCC students, including visits from local officials, guest readers of favorite children’s books, kick-off day parades, pansy planting, garden parties, nature and magic shows, zumba/yoga classes and end of the week dance parties. This year’s theme is “Early Years are Learning Years.”

The center offers on-site child care at its five locations in Katonah, Bedford Hills and Yorktown Heights as well as after school programs at five elementary schools in the Katonah-Lewisboro and Bedford Central School Districts.

The "Week of the Young Child" is promoted annually by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) to build awareness of the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and people that help meet those needs.

“Week of the Young child events celebrate how the early years build the foundation for children’s future success in school and life," said Country Childrens Center Executive Director, Polly Peace.

"The Week of the Young Child is a time to illuminate how everyone in our community can join together to ensure that all young children get a great foundation for lifelong success.”

The Country Childrens Center was founded more than four decades ago as a small program operating out of the basement of the First Presbyterian Church of Katonah. It now serves more than 400 northern Westchester youngsters from age infancy through elementary school in a variety of quality child care programs.
