The 1787 Court House at 615 Old Post Road will be festively decorated thanks to Perennial Gardens, Julie Zegras of Bubble & Tweet, and a team of local volunteers.
Children can take a photo with Santa, create winter-themed crafts and enjoy holiday refreshments from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This holiday season, Bedford Historical Society Executive Director Lynn Ryan encourages Bedford residents to renew their society membership either in-person at the museum, 612 Old Post Road, by phone, through the mail or online.
The society relies on private money to preserve historic landmarks and buildings, offer educational programs and host community events.
"When I come to work in the morning and drive through the village, I get enormous satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment," Ryan said. "Each of the buildings we preserve contributes to the character and vitality of Bedford Village."
Others ways donors can support the society during the holidays is to purchase the Bedford-centric gifts on sale at the museum's gift shop. The shop is in the old Bedford General Store, 612 Old Post Road. Gifts from the store also are available online.
Since its founding in 1916, the Bedford Historical Society has grown to preserve 10 historic properties around the Village Green, operate two other museums at the 1787 Court House and 1829 School House and take care of the historic Bedford Oak, among other enterprises.
The society recently used donor money to make improvements to the post office and renovate the Bedford Historical Hall. This September, the society hosted a constitutional treasure hunt, coinciding with the 225th anniversary of Bedford's Court House, as well as the 225th anniversary of the U.S. Constitution,
In October, the society hosted an elaborate antiques and design show that featured a presentation by American interior designer Jeffrey Bilhuber with an introduction by Bedford Historical Society member and celebrity domestic expert Martha Stewart.
