Bedford Holds Three Memorial Day Parades, Town Picnic

BEDFORD, N.Y. – Town of Bedford residents can participate in a national day of remembrance on Memorial Day on Monday, with three parades and ceremonies being held in the town.

Bedford Hills Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Sponsored by Bedford Hills Fire Department and Bedford Hills Lions Club.

Parade starts at 9 a.m. at Bedford Hills Elementary School, 123 Babbitt Road. The parade will run from Babbitt Road to Church Street Bedford Hills Community House (BHCH), Main Street to the Bedford Hills Fire Department headquarters. Ceremonies will be held at the BHCH WWI memorial followed by a ceremony at the end of the parade route at the WWII, Korean and Vietnam War memorials at the intersection of Bedford Road and Main St.

Katonah Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Sponsored by Katonah American Legion Post 1275 and the Katonah Fire Department

Parade starts at 10 a.m. at Katonah Fire Department. The parade will run from the  Katonah Fire Department down Katonah Avenue and up Parkway to Lawrence Circle. After the ceremony at the war memorials, the parade continues from Lawrence Circle down Bedford Road to the Katonah Fire Department headquarters. Ceremonies will be held at the Lawrence Circle WWI, WWII and Civil war memorials, followed by a ceremony at the end of the parade at the Katonah Fire Departent bell honoring all veterans who were also volunteer firefighters.

Bedford Village Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Sponsored by Bedford Fire Department and Bedford Village Lions Club

Parade starts at 11:15 a.m. The parade starts at the Corner of Seminary Road and Pound Ridge Road, right onto Pound Ridge Road (Route 172) to the Village Green. A ceremony will be held at the WWI, WWII, Korean, Vietnam and Gulf War memorials located at the flagpole on the Village Green. At the conclusion of the ceremony residents are invited to the Bedford Fire Department for light refreshments.

Townwide event

A Memorial Day town picnic, hosted by the American Legion Post 1575, will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at American Legion Hall, 136 Jay St. in Katonah.
