The town’s Teatown Lake Reservation will host its annual Hudson River EagleFest on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m at Croton Point Park. The event is expected to attract thousands of attendees.

Experts say that each winter, between December and March, bald eagles from Canada, northern New York, and New England fly south to the lower Hudson Valley to feed on fish and waterfowl found in unfrozen waters.

The bald eagle, which was considered an endangered species prior to 1995, shed its federal endangered species status in 2007. Today, biologists estimate that about 150 bald eagles overwinter in our region.

EagleFest events include: guided and independent eagle viewing; live raptor shows; bus tours; bird walks; children’s activities; and displays from dozens of local environmental organizations.

Entertaining and educational shows will take place all day long in The Eagle Theatre and live music will take place in the Eaglet Stage at Croton Point Park in Croton-on-Hudson.

Guests can enjoy eagle viewing at locations along the Hudson River. Each viewing area is staffed by experts with spotting scopes.

Guests can also travel by bus with a Teatown educator at 9:30 a.m. or 2 p.m. for an in-depth view of eagles in their natural habitat.

Tours begin at Croton Point Park and stop at three locations along the river (There is an additional fee).

The award-winning RiverMarket Bar and Kitchen, an new American restaurant located in Tarrytown, will serve samples of its signature dishes for purchase. Kid-friendly foods and beverages will be available from Ossining’s Wobble Café.

This year, EagleFest will showcase local talent with performances from Croton singer/songwriter Annie DiRusso; Peekskill's Daisy Jopling, a classical rock violinist; and Joe Duraes, an alt-rock group from Montrose.

Pre-event tickets will be $13 for adults (age 12+), $8 for children (ages 6-11), and free for children 5 and under.

Tickets sold at the venue on the day of the event will be $15 for adults, $10 for children, and free for children 5 and under.
