I'm shocked that Legal Services of Westchester would be going after HUD,
when Legal Services of Yonkers is no better in the way they respond to the residents of Yonkers. I spoke to Mrs. Finkelstein on several occasions with no results and Isabel Lee is a joke. The only advice she (LEE) could give me was "Don't pay your rent and when they go to evict you, we will defend you. BAD ADVICE! I think that the government should look into (LEGAL SERVICES OF WESTCHESTER) records. View Comment
The fire department may show up if a written complaint is sent, never on phone calls unless a fire is happening. Whatever happened to preventive measures. When an inspection is done it should be made clear to the owner, when the next inspection is due and then the date should be kept. The public is un informed not duped. Seems as though unpaid crooks have more time to work than the fire dept. Who would have thought it? View Comment
Blowing smoke is what it is. Never investigated my fraud complaint given to Detective Pollick in the Yonkers, NY office. It is wrong to promise hope, and services where there are none. View Comment
How nauseating can you be. What purpose did it serve for you to say that Chief Joseph Kelly was known for acohol abuse. Now he will be known for that instead of his dedication to the Fire Department. You need to submit another article pointing out all deeds that show his dedication and while you're at it keep his family in mind. I'm disgusted with you Samatha Kramer.

The Journal News should be held accountable from the day the map was posted. This desperation to sell newspapers have made them irresponsible. I don't agree with all actions of the police, but I can understand and appreciate that everyday they are facing people and situations that I don't want to run into. Thanks for all the good work. So sorry that a fireman was hurt. There is a breakdown in the Yonkers fire code system. Not enough inspections and even when a violation is reported there is sparse follow up. Such as the violations on the fire escapes at 309 North Broadway. A violation since 2008-constantly reported and ignored. Does this sound like someone is being paid off. If you take the time to pay attention to this, also review Yonkers Housing code system. View Comment
It seems as though The Journal News doesn't realize why they are going out of business. A lack of respect for people is clearly shown here and I agree that their names and addresses should be published in return. They expect people to by a paper with nothing but ads-mostly car ads and then they block you on the internet or if you have the paper delivered, there is always some sort of mix up. I suggest that We The People, stop buying the paper and let them fade into the dust. Some may not realize that every small town has a local paper available online and we really don't need them. No disrespect intended! View Comment
The City of Yonkers is notorious for not acting whwn necessary. It always takes a catastrophy for action. Employees are not dedicated to their jobs and the City does not enforce the codes and regulations. I am a senior citizen and for five years I have gotten a run around from Yonkers Housing, Yonkers Fire Dept and now lately Yonkers Fraud Unit-I guess they are waiting for me to die, go away or be a statistic of some disaster due to their lack of response. Is there no one dedicated to their paid position any longer?

Elders fall through the cracks, when it comes to miserable living conditions due to leaking roofs and other repairs that should be made as quickly as rent is collected. There are no pro bono lawyers to help and the yonkers fire dept and Yonkers Housing couldn't care less. I am 75 years old and been pleading with agencies for four years plus for help and all I hear is that fines have been imposed. It will take a serious accident to get noticed and meanwhile my neighbors and I are being financially and humanly abused. I don't have confidence that the DA's office is doing anything but blowing smoke. View Comment
