Runners From The Harvey School Shine At Cross Country Race

KATONAH, N.Y. -- Three juniors on The Harvey School’s cross country team more had strong performances in the New England Prep School Track Association (NEPSTA) Division IV Cross-Country Championships Saturday in Connecticut.

Sam Mackiewicz of Ridgefield, Conn., Harvey’s team captain, finished the 3.2 mile course at Marianapolis Preparatory School in Thompson, Conn. with a time of 18:36, good for a 31st place finish. Matanel Cohen-Weinberg of Cross River (23:21) and Marshall Euchner of Waccabuc (25:13) also ran well for Harvey.

Coach Mike Lauria said he is proud of the way Harvey’s runners performed. “I congratulate them on a great season,” the coach said. “They definitely ended it on a high note.”

Henry Smithers of Gould Academy finished in first place with a championship record time of 16:48.
