BEDFORD, N.Y. -- The Evarts Ice Rink on the campus of The Harvey School in Katonah will be the site this year for the Fairchester Athletic Association hockey playoffs.
Harvey will host the semifinal game Thursday, Feb. 20, at 3:45, and for the first time in school history Evarts Rink will host the FAA championship game scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 22, at 8 p.m. Admission to the games is free.
Harvey is one of six teams competing in the FAA. The others are Fieldston, Hamden Hall, King, Rye Country Day and St. Luke’s. The top four in the final league standings qualify for the playoffs. Rye County Day, St. Luke’s and Hamden Hall are looking like the favorites to make the postseason. The fourth playoff spot looks to go to either Harvey or King. Harvey improved its chances with a convincing 9-1 victory over Fieldston Friday, Feb 7.
While Harvey hosts the Feb. 20 semifinal matchup of the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, Rye County Day will host the battle between the No. 1 and No. 4 seeds.
Before the playoffs get underway, the regular season wraps up next week. Harvey, 8-8 overall and 1-3 in league competition, has only one game left against an FAA opponent. The Cavaliers will battle league rival King Wednesday, Feb. 12, for a playoff spot. If the Cavaliers defeat King, they make the playoffs.
Harvey ends its regular season Saturday, Feb. 15, with a long road trip to Rhode Island to play Portsmouth Abbey School.
