Harvey Boys, Girls Basketball Teams Fall In League Playoffs

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- The Harvey School's boys and basketball teams were ousted from the Hudson Valley Athletic League playoffs last week.

Forman eliminated the boys basketball team in the HVAL semifinals, 60-52. Forman jumped out to an 11-2 lead and was on its way. Harvey trimmed the deficit but could not grab the lead.  Deshawn Hilliard had 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Harvey. Freshman Evan Roteman of Chappaqua also added 16 points as Harvey finished the season 10-11.

Christian Heritage eliminated the girls in the HVAL quarterfinals, 44-8.

Junior Varsity Results

The junior varsity boys basketball team ended a strong season with a 41-40 victory over EF International of Tarrytown. Harvey finished the season 13-4 and won its final three games.

Rohan Cassells led Harvey in scoring with 10 points while Lamar Dell chipped in with nine. The Cavaliers were led defensively by Michel DePass with five blocks and Jovelle Forsythe with 18 rebounds.

The Cavaliers trailed by nine in the first half but trimmed the deficit to one at halftime. Harvey pulled ahead by six late in the game, and held off a late comeback by EFI.

The junior varsity girls basketball team (3-4) defeated Oakwood Friends, 28-12. Aila Prieto led Harvey with 10 points. Aerin Glover, Emma Carillo, Ally Silk and Ariel Chivertoneach scored four points each while Becca Tuteur added two.
