Breaking News: CEO Of Westchester Facility Housing Migrant Kids Speaks Out

Grippi Wins Second Wrestling Title

Riding the momentum from his first wrestling tournament win of the season, Springfield College junior Joey Grippi made it two in a row. Grippi, a 2009 Fox Lane graduate, won the 141-pound weight class at the Petrofes Invitational, hosted by Messiah (Pa.) College. Teammate and 2009 Ardsley graduate Derrick Longo won the 165-pound championship. Grippi, seeded second, won a decision over top-seeded Josh Malave of Mount Union, 3-1 in the final. This came after a 2-0 semi-final win over sixth-seeded Victor Bracey, also of Messiah. “Staying focused coming into the tournament was important because it was a long trip and it was a two-day tournament,” said Grippi, who won the Doug Parker Invitational before Thanksgiving. “I knew I was going to wrestle close, tough matches so I prepared myself for this by wrestling tough.”
