BEDFORD, N.Y. – There is something about wrestling at Harrison that brings out the best in Fox Lane’s Frank Surace.

The sophomore was a divisional champion last year and reached the century mark in wins Thursday as Fox Lane defeated Harrison, 50-27, to capture a league title.

Surace posted a 17-1 technical fall victory against Harrison’s Max Lukaswitz in the 138-pound match for win No. 100. It also gave Fox Lane a 17-0 lead after three matches.

“It’s just another win and, honestly, it felt better knowing that I helped the team clinch a league title,” Surace said. “This is also just another step in reaching our goal of a team section title. This win shows that all of our hard work is paying off and, hopefully, it really pays off come sectional time.”

Surace’s mom, Debbie, is a Harrison graduate, as are her sisters, and he has family living in Harrison. This makes Surace feel at home on the mat in Harrison.

“It always helps having family and supporting fans there cheering you on,” Surace said. “Every time we wrestle at Harrison, it’s on a big stage with the pressure on and I love that feeling.”
