Fox Lane Grad Van Galen on Softball Power Rampage

Jessica Van Galen continued her torrid power trip Wednesday in a Manhattanville College softball doubleheader sweep, 5-4 in eight innings and 10-2, against Hunter at Randall’s Island.

The Fox Lane alumnus crushed three home runs and drove in nine runs, including seven in the second game.

Van Galen launched two homers Saturday against Delaware Valley. She set a softball record with home runs in four consecutive games.

Overall, Manhattanville belted seven home runs. Joining in the fence-clearing parade was Harrison graduate Brianna Scapperotti, Kristen Rodopoulos, an Ursuline grad, Good Counsel alumnus Kim Angiolillo and Ashley Dell.

In the first game, Van Galen smashed a two-run homer in the top of the eighth inning, giving Manhattanville a 4-2 lead. Rodopoulos, who earned the win, followed with a solo homer.
