After two years starring at Syracuse University, a former Hudson Valley basketball standout was made a first round selection in the NBA Draft.

Tyler Lydon, a former star at Pine Plains in Dutchess County who took his talents to Syracuse, was drafted 24th overall by the Utah Jazz, though he’ll be suiting up with the Denver Nuggets following a draft night trade.

The 6-foot 8-inch forward was traded to the Nuggets for the 13th overall pick, according to NBA expert Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

A lifelong Knicks fan, the 6-foot, 8-inch forward left Syracuse after his sophomore year, where he averaged more than 13 points, two assists and 36 minutes per game. He also proved adept at the free throw line, raising his percentage at the stripe from 77 to 83 percent from his freshman to sophomore year.

Lydon was chosen right where he was guesstimated by draft experts, who had him going as high as 23 to the Toronto Raptors or as late as pick 39 in the second round.
