Union officials from Transport Workers Union Local 100 announced on Thursday that school bus drivers would go on strike beginning on Monday if they couldn’t reach an agreement on a new contract with their employer, First Mile Square.

On Friday, it was announced that an agreement has been reached, reportedly with a 3 percent pay raise, guaranteed 25-hour work week and one additional paid sick day per year. Local 100 represents approximately 600 bus drivers, monitors and mechanics, who had been working without a contract for months.

First Mile Square has bus routes in Yonkers, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle and Mamaroneck.
