St. Patrick's School In Bedford Announces New Teachers

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- St. Patrick’s School-Bedford is pleased to announce several new teaching appointments, three of which come as the result of the retirements of long-time staff members.

Mrs. Mary Dick will be the school’s new Kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Dick is a graduate of the master’s program at Long Island University with a degree in Early Elementary Education. Mrs. Dick has taught at St. Joseph’s School in Croton Falls and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School in Shrub Oak for a total of 14 years. She has taught both Pre-Kindergarten and First Grade.

Ms. Olivia Fraioli will join the school as First Grade teacher. Ms. Fraioli is completing her master’s degree at SUNY New Paltz in Literacy Education and Childhood Special Education. She comes to St. Patrick’s from the Pelham Public School district, where she taught First Grade.

Ms. Erin Pontez will be the second grade teacher. Ms. Pontez completed her master’s degree at SUNY New Paltz in Literacy Education and Childhood Special Education. Ms. Pontez comes to St. Patrick’s from St. Denis/St. Columba School, where she taught Second Grade and the sacramental preparation program for First Penance and First Eucharist.

Mrs. Polsia Papa will join the St. Patrick’s staff as the new Pre-Kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Papa is a graduate of Pace University and is pursuing her master’s degree. Mrs. Papa taught Pre-Kindergarten at St. Lawrence O’Toole School for eight years, as well as third grade.

At the end of the school year, Kindergarten Teacher Ms. Sue Meccio, First Grade Teacher Mrs. Colette Savino and Second Grade Teacher Mrs. Laurie Niederhauser were offered and opted to take voluntary retirement incentives from the Archdiocese of New York.

In addition, Pre-Kindergarten Teacher Mrs. Kim Kilduff decided not to return to teaching this fall. At St. Patrick's School in Bedford, N.Y., academic excellence is enriched by faith. Established in 1956, it is a regional Catholic school in the Archdiocese of New York. St. Patrick's educates children from Pre-Kindergarten (3s and 4s) through Grade 8.
