Donohue explained that he learned about the arrest because North Castle Police reached out. The superintendent noted that the suspect is a local resident, but did not include further details about the person.

The threat was a general one made towards schools and not against specific school buildings, according to Donohue.

Good evening Byram Hills community

This is Bill Donohue with an important informational message about a situation in our town that has been resolved well, but that I think you would want to know about as soon as possible.

Tonight we received a call from the North Castle Police notifying us that a general threat to schools was made on social media by a local resident. The threat was not directed at our schools specifically, but the police investigated immediately which led to an arrest, and I just received confirmation that the subject is now in police custody. I am sorry for disrupting your evening so late, but I did not want you to hear about this after school starts in the morning.

Tomorrow, you will see a police officer at each school building, as the police wish to show their support and reassure our students of their continued vigilance. We all recognize how upsetting these situations can be.

Many thanks is due to the North Castle Police.

This is all the information that I have at this time. If I receive any further information as it affects our schools, I will be in touch.

Good evening.

Bill Donohue
