Pace students represented the Kingdom of Spain and the Kingdom of Jordan in the intercollegiate competition attended by nearly 1,000 students from some of the nation’s major universities.
The students studied and then applied negotiating, public speaking, research, and writing skills in the competition, which addressed major international issues such as the implementation of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment programs, managing health crises after natural disasters, and the impact of terrorism on economic growth.
The students representing the Kingdom of Jordan were awarded Honorable Delegation honors while the Kingdom of Spain team was named a Distinguished Delegation. In addition Pace students also received awards for excellence in the research paper component of the conference.
This year 20 Pace students attended the conference. “We had a broad mixture of students ranging from freshman to seniors,” said faculty adviser Paul Londrigan. “We had majors from political science, biology, communications, criminal justice, business management, environmental studies, and finance.”
As soon as Pace ‘s spring semester starts in late January the team will begin to prepare for the national Model United Nations conference to be held in New York City in the spring.
