MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- There could be changes coming to the Dual Language program at Mount Kisco Elementary School.

Superintendent Dr. Christopher Manno presented two proposals at a recent board meeting. One proposal would allow all children at the school to be part of the program, which teaches children in both English and Spanish, according to The Examiner.

If families wanted to opt out of the program they would be allowed to attend West Patent Elementary School. Students who choose West Patent would receive door-to-door busing. The option would be available to 15 students and would be determined by a lottery system, according to The Examiner .

The second proposal involved the district continuing its current program, which would allow parents to decide whether to enroll their children in the program or participate in a single language classroom, according to The Examiner.

The board will discuss the issue at its Dec. 13 work session and could make a decision at its Dec. 20 meeting.
