YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Monday's snowstorm turning into a false alarm elicited a sigh of relief from schools throughout Northern Westchester.

With snowstorms common this winter, many schools have used up their allotted snow days. Schools that use too many snow days will be forced to open over spring break in April.

In Yorktown, the school has already changed a Superintendent's Conference Day on March 21 to a regular day of instruction.

"With all of the fragmentation and lack of continuity throughout the season, we are in need of additional instructional time for our students," Superintendent Ralph Napolitano said.

The district is also making up a day on April 14.

The Peekskill City School District has also exceeded its snow day limit and school will now be open on April 21. Additional snow days will force school to be open on April 14 and April 15.

The Somers School District has also burned through all of its snow days. According to Matthew Carr, student services manager at Somers, the schedule will be modified to include April 21 and May 23 as regular school days.  If the district has any further snow days, April 14 and 15 will be converted into regular school days.

Bedford Central School District has had to close school seven times, three in December and four in February, due to inclement weather this winter. The district has already had to reschedule a Superintendent's Conference Day set for March 21.

Further snow days will result in school being open on April 14, April 15, April 16 and April 17.

The Lakeland Central School District has also made additions  to its schedule. A Superintendent's Conference Day set for March 21 has been changed to a regular school day as a result of the snow. A Superintendent's Conference Day set for May 23 had already been scrubbed.

Any more snow days will result in the school dipping into its spring break.

The district will also have full days for elementary and middle school in the last week of school.
