KATONAH, N.Y.– Six members of the current New York Knicks team, including Jason Kidd, will serve as coaches at The Harvey School's Martin Luther King, Jr. Youth Basketball Clinic on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
The sold-out clinic at the Katonah private school will feature Kidd, Steve Novak, Ronnie Brewer, Rasheed Wallace, Chris Copeland and Pablo Prigioni alongside other coaches affiliated with the Knicks community youth program.
The clinic, which will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. the day after MLK Jr. Day in the school’s new 22,000-square-foot athletic center, is for coed players ages 7 to 17 who wish to improve their skills and get pointers from the professionals.
The $5 million, 22,000-square-foot athletic center had its ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 19 with former Yankee great Bernie Williams and Manhattan College men's basketball coach Steve Masiello as special guests, said Harvey School Communications Director Chris DelCampo. Masiello is a 1996 Harvey alum, DelCampo said.
October 20th marked the center's first official sports use when the school's varsity volleyball team played the New York Military Academy, located in Cornwall-on-Hudson. Earlier that morning, DelCampo said, the New York Knicks conducted a clinic to celebrate the center's opening, featuring former Knicks star John Starks as a guest coach.
Harvey's athletic center is located in the school's upper campus at 260 Jay Street, Route 22. There will be limited parking near the gym at the Jan. 22 event. Other parking will be available in the Upper School lot near the main admissions building, Sylvan Hall.
