BEDFORD, N.Y. — Fox Lane High School is usually filled with up-and-coming members of the arts, but one day in February will be specifically filled with poetry. The New York City North Regional Poetry Outloud Competition will be taking place Feb. 16 at Fox Lane, and will bring in students from around the area to compete.

Students from Briarcliff High School, Fox Lane High School, Hackley School, Martin Luther King Jr. High School, Middletown High School, Nyack High School, Thornton High School, and Valhalla High School will be taking part in the contest for a spot in the state competition in Albany in March.

The contest is sponsored by The Poetry Foundation, the New York State Alliance for Arts Education and the National Endowment for the Arts. It will be held in the Mary Lou Meese Theatre at 6 p.m. and doors will open at 5 p.m.
