BEDFORD, N.Y. – The Fox Lane Players will present their spring musical, “The Wedding Singer,” this week at the Mary Lou Meese Theater at Fox Lane High School.

“The Wedding Singer,” with music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and book by Beguelin and Tim Herlihy, is based on the Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore movie of the same name and primarily takes place in and about Ridgefield N.J. in 1985.

Robbie, played by Mike Barr, is the lead singer in the most popular wedding band in northern New Jersey. Left at the altar by longtime fiancée Linda (Samantha Bell), he begins a self-destructive spiral and is saved by a pretty waitress, Julia (Lindsay Avellino). Unfortunately, Julia is engaged to a self-obsessed Wall Streeter, Glen (Eric Simon), who does not appreciate her.

“The Wedding Singer” is full of the rock and pop sounds of the 1980s and takes us back to a time when big hair (for both men and women) and Wall Street greed were good. The production is headed up by Fox Lane faculty members C. Edward Steele (direction and design) and Sarah Fay (musical direction), with lighting design by Pat Bellino and choreography by Josie Bielmeier. Costume design is by Barbara Cutri and hair and makeup design is by Anne Steele. Student Abby Stuckey is the stage manager.

The cast has been in rehearsal since early January and includes leads Ursula Seymour (Holly), Joshua Safranek (Sammy), Mitch Kutin (George), and Samantha Reig (Rosie), and additional performers Sarah Appedu, Brian Arkin, Infiniti Bowie, Alex Bradsell, Matt Bronico, Casey Crowell, Jakob Ebers, Lily Edwards, Alison Gips, Samantha Grant, Myles Grimes, Jeremy Kovac, Lillianna Levonick, Eric Long, Tatiana Mark, Raihan Miah, Kayla Pereira, Emily Politi, Coryn Porter, Laura Quinn, Taylor Riordan, Taylor Rynski, Simone Seager, Beverly Tai, Nicole Valinote, and Nick Winzig.

Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15. Advanced tickets for students and seniors are $10. All tickets are $15 at the door. Call the box office at 914-864-3499.
