BCSD held its first of 11 concerts on Thursday, Dec. 5.

Participants of this concert included the ninth-grade girls chorus, the fifth-period chorus, the sixth-period chorus (Fox O'Pella and the Commodores) and the eighth-grade choir with the chamber choir. Each of the participants graced the audience with amazing music and song.

Students of BCSD begin music in kindergarten and continue until the end of high school. They have the option to choose musical instruments based on their likes and interests. For some students it's an opportunity for enjoyment and to connect with peers.

Recently, more than 40 students of BCSD were recognized at Westchester County all-state festival music concert, where students are selected to play at county level and sometimes proceed to state level.

BCSD has also been selected as a semifinalist for the Grammy Foundation's Signature School program. This program was created in 1998 and it recognizes top U.S. public schools that are making an outstanding commitment to music education during an academic school year.

BSCD will find out later in school year if it is one of the gold medalists.
