The interview, which was done to the district's "Bedford Central Buzz" program, is available on the district's website. It was conducted by  Julia Tilley, a senior at Fox Lane High School.

Chambers, who served as a regular superintendent during his career at Byram Hills and Bronxville, became interim superintendent following the resignation of Jere Hochman, who left to assume a state-level post.

“I'm really still gathering first impressions,” Chambers said about the district.

Chambers also praised the interactions he has had with students and teachers, calling them “really positive.”

Chambers, who lives in Katonah and was once principal of nearby John Jay High School, also noted that he has been a neighbor of the district for a long time.

The interim superintendent cited experience with diversity as one of the things that he admires about Bedford Central.

“I think the more students can experience different cultures, different languages, different perspectives, the better off they are.”

The school board is currently conducting a search for a new regular superintendent; it recently hired Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates (HYA) for the process.

Chambers has worked for HYA as a consultant, with his search experience including recruitment last year of a new superintendent for the Katonah-Lewisboro school district.
