YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Students in the Childhood Development and Education program at BOCES said thank you to their teacher mentors this week with a special breakfast.

Students in the program complete an internship in a classroom of their choice, working closely with a cooperating teacher. All of the seniors in the program this year going to college in the fall, most pursuing childhood education degrees.

“Our students are honoring their mentor teachers who allowed them the opportunity to student teach—something they normally would not be able to do until graduate school,” said Tech Center teacher Melissa Davis, as she addressed students and their guests. “By the end of their work at The Tech Center, the students looked like teachers.”

Chloe Blaney, a Carmel High School student, said her internship with an art teacher at Walden School made her realize what she wanted to do with her life

"I am eternally grateful for the opportunity that BOCES has given me," Blaney said. " I can’t thank my internship teachers enough for this experience.”
