The Ardsley Board of Education announced the appointment of Ryan Schoenfeld as the new Superintendent of the Ardsley Union Free School District effective July 1.

“We look forward to welcoming Dr. Schoenfeld to our district and introducing him to our entire community," said Matt Bonney, president of the Ardsley Board of Education.

"Dr. Schoenfeld stood out among the field of candidates for his passion and proven track record in building strategic plans that support both academic success and overall student wellness,” Bonney said. “We felt he answered our needs, and would take the time to embrace our strong staff, diverse community, and our commitment to excellence for all of our students. We believe he will be a great fit for our District culture.”

Schoenfeld is currently the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Technology in the Amherst Central School District, a suburb of Buffalo.

He has 25 years of experience in education, with 14 of those years as a principal in an elementary and junior high school.

“I am humbled and honored for the opportunity to be joining this outstanding learning community - it is truly a gem of a district,” Schoenfeld said. "I look forward to building on the strong foundation already in place and will work tirelessly to serve the students, faculty, staff and families of the Ardsley School District.”

The Ardsley Board of Education engaged a professional search consultant and chose Schoenfeld after a rigorous search process.

Schoenfeld was born in Queens, raised in Westchester County, and graduated from Rye Neck High School.

As a dedicated lifelong learner, he attended SUNY Albany for his undergraduate degree, Pace University for a Master's Degree in Education, and SUNY Buffalo for both a Master's Degree in School Administration and an Educational Doctorate. He is married with two children; his daughter is entering her sophomore year and his son is entering college in the fall.

Schoenfeld will be transitioning to his new role with support from Lauren Allan who is retiring at the end of the school year after working 15 years for the Ardsley School District.
