Investigators from the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office announced the bust on Tuesday, Jan. 25 that resulted in a total of 25 felonies and 12 misdemeanor charges for trafficking drugs through jail visits and the US Postal Service.

Charges include conspiracy, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal sale of a controlled substance, promoting prison contraband, and criminal facilitation.

Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon, Jr. said that an undetermined amount of heroin, Buprenorphine, cannabis, K2spice, and other contraband was allegedly trafficked into the jail by sewing them into the fabric of clothing and other property or by packaging the drugs themselves.

It is alleged that they then used the US Postal Service and civilians visiting inmates in an attempt to get the contraband into the facility before it was intercepted by Sheriff’s Office investigators.

“Through surveillance, searches, and detailed investigatory work, these investigators were able to uncover a complex plan to traffic dangerous drugs into the facility,” Toulon said.
