The officer was pulled over on Route 10 Wednesday to help a disabled Wegmans tractor-trailer when he was slammed from behind by a Nissan Altima just west of Tabor Road on the westbound side of the highway around 6:20 p.m., Parsippany Police Sgt. Brian Conover said.

The patrol vehicle, which the officer was inside of at the time of the crash, was pushed forward into the rear or the disabled trailer.

The Nissan subsequently became lodged under the side of the tractor trailer.

The Parsippany officer was taken to Morristown Medical Center with minor injuries and the 68-year-old Nissan driver was not injured, authorities said.

Parsippany police reminded motorists of the "move over" law.
