The campaign stems from Cuomo's proposed budget Jan. 13 for 2016-17 they say underfund public schools and does not restore the Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA) funds lost over the past six years.
Attributing the shortfall to the "underfunding" and "zero percent CPI in the tax cap," public schools around the state will continue to struggle to maintain class sizes and programs, according to the Take Action advocacy group.
The group is now asking citizens to write another letter.
This time it should appeal to legislators to ask for restoration of state funding to 2008 levels and to return some portion of the $4.5 million lost to the GEA, as well as to consider modifications to the tax cap formula, say advocates.
