Kurt Paschke, who the newspaper said turns 39 this Friday, is a bartender, the son of a Suffolk County police officer and the owner of a New York Jets-themed mini-bus he said he bought on eBay that he and his father tailgate with, the News story says.
“I am deeply sorry,” Paschke reportedly said during his sentencing for the killing. “I can honestly say I never sought the confrontation, but when it came, I did what I had to do.”
His 62-year-old mother told the newspaper that Paschke was defending her and himself Sunday as they headed to the exits of MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford after being tormented by Patriots fans.
“He was just hitting back to defend himself,” she said. “If you see the video, [the Pats fans] just went wild.”
