Hookers’ haven no more: WNY cops crack down on prostitution

Prostitution is so ingrained in West New York, police don’t have to raid apartments anymore: Hookers are coming to them. The next prostitution arrest will put the city in double digits — and it’s not even the end of March yet.

Before, police called numbers on business cards distributed through the city. Now, the Vice Squad is finding the hookers in classified ads, dialing them up — and setting them up.

An undercover cop this weekend called an advertised number and made an appointment for sex with “Luscious” — 20-year-old Liza M. Rivera of Jersey City — at a residence on 58th Street near Palisade Avenue, police said.

When the hooker showed up, she was arrested.

EDITORIAL: How about some props for West New York police? In a little over a month, they’ve busted five prostitution rings operating out of the city. That’s quality-of-life policing that doesn’t get big headlines — but makes for a safer community. CLICK HERE FOR STORY
