WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two-thirds of New York State residents are unaware of the Moreland Commission or the work it set out to accomplish in investigating ethics violations.

Nearly two-thirds are also unaware of the federal investigation into the disbanding of the commission by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, according to a recent Siena College poll.

Despite the political turmoil surrounding the Moreland Commission, Cuomo's lead over Rob Astorino dropped only five points, down to 32, the poll said.

When asked about the Moreland Commission, 67 percent of respondents said they were completely unfamiliar with the work of the commission.

The lack of awareness about the Moreland Commission is clearly hurting Astorino. Among the 32 percent who are familiar with the commission, Cuomo leads 49-41 percent. The Democratic governor holds a much more commanding lead among the 67 percent who are unfamiliar with the commission, beating Astorino 62-19 percent, according to Siena College.

This is a very example as to why the Moreland Committee
Should have had the power to over-ride anyones interference with there investigation. They should have immediately reported it to the U.S. attorneys office.
No one is above the law, not even Mr. CUOMO or his cronies.

The low-information crowd will vote for him anyway.

Rick Perry

Are you kidding? Even David Axelrod, who would never be confused with Sean Hannity, says the Perry indictment is "pretty sketchy". It will be dismissed faster than you can say "political farce".

Unfathomable!

As Mr. Churchill once said: 'Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others."

These days, voters ONLY "vote their pocketbooks" -- ethics and morality? Like the Moreland Commission, "whats dat???"

@cjmesq, we can thank that compliant leftist media for the fact that only 1/3 of NYers are aware of this issue. You can bet if the shoe was on the other foot, even people who would have trouble spelling "Rob" would be aware of this issue.
The more disturbing part of this poll though, is that Cuomo still leads 49-41 with people who ARE informed about it. So they don't mind voting for a corrupt politician as long as the corrupt politician is a Democrat, I guess.

Great. Nothing like low-information voters, coupled with a compliant leftist media that acts like a Praetorian Guard for the Marxist pols, to make me feel like we are losing our republic. Keep voting Dem, you nudnik voters. Great job.

Go shine your jack boots and practice your goose step.
