Astorino Blasts de Blasio's Handling Of Garner Verdict Reaction

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino criticized New York Mayor Bill de Blasio in an interview Monday, Dec. 15, stating the mayor is making the situation regarding law enforcement worse after the grand jury decision in the Eric Garner case, reports NY State of Politics.

“What is not helpful is to have certain people in the community – including, by the way, Mayor de Blasio, who I think is making it worse in New York City right now with his rhetoric and turning his back in many ways on law enforcement – to inflame the situation rather than bringing some common sense,” said Astorino, according to the report.

The report also stated that Astorino said he does not agree with Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association President Pat Lynch’s request for NYPD officers to fill out a form asking the mayor and City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito not to attend their funerals if killed in the line of duty, calling it “a little over the top,” but said he understands why the officers would feel that way.
