Woman Charged In December Theft From CVS In Bedford

BEDFORD, N.Y. – A 31-year-old woman from the Fresh Meadows neighborhood of Queens was charged with grand larceny on Jan. 17, police said, the result of an investigation into a December theft at CVS in Bedford Hills.

On Dec. 2, three people stole skin care products, cosmetics and hair products from the store and fled on foot, police said. As they ran, police said, the thieves dropped off some of the items in a car, which police subsequently recovered.

Police identified a suspect, Aliyah Y. Black, using information on the car and video surveillance from the store.

Black turned herself in on Jan. 17 at the Bedford police station. She was charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony, and was arraigned. Bail information was not immediately available.

DWI: A 31-year-old woman from Bethel, Conn., was charged Saturday, Jan. 19, with driving while intoxicated. About 12:30 a.m., an officer saw Juanita A. Navarro make a right turn from Woods Bridge Road in Katonah onto Route 35 without stopping at the red light, police said. When the officer pulled her over near the I-684 exit, he could smell alcohol on her breath, police said. Navarro admitted to drinking a glass of wine and taking prescription pain medication, police said. She failed field sobriety tests and refused a field prescreening test as well as a test at police headquarters, police said. Navarro was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and three infractions: equipment violation (headlights), passing a red traffic light and refusing a prescreening test. She was released on $200 bail and is due Feb. 7 in Bedford Town Court.
