Westchester Police Charge 10 With DWI Over Holiday Weekend

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Westchester County police arrested 10 people on charges related to driving while intoxicated over the Thanksgiving weekend, including eight drivers in Mount Vernon, according to officials.

Jarett Rodriguez, 26, of Elmsford; Wilson Logan, 48, of Stamford, Conn.; and Kyle Hughes, 20, of Katonah were all charged with DWI at a checkpoint set up at the Oak Street exit ramp on the Bronx River parkway, police said. 

Julius Dupree, 44, was charged with DWI combined drugs and alcohol along with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle while Jeffrey Marquez, 44, of the Bronx and Benjamin Bronstein, 19, of Scarsdale were charged with driving while ability impaired and unlawful possession of marijuana at the same checkpoint police said. 

Shawn Gomes, 21, of Mount Vernon was charged with DWAI and possession of a controlled substance at a sobriety checkpoint on the ramp connecting the northbound Bronx River Parkway to the eastbound Cross County Parkway in Mount Vernon, police said.

Miguel Munoz, 41, of North Bergen, N.J., was charged with DWI and unlawful possession of marijuana at another checkpoint set up on the Hutchinson River Parkway at the westbound Cross County Parkway in Mount Vernon, officials said.

Richard James, 34, of the Bronx was charged with DWI after police allegedly found him asleep at the wheel on the Palmer Road exit ramp from the northbound Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers, police said.

Miguel Calderon, 34, was charged with aggravated DWI following a traffic stop on Mamaroneck Avenue in Harrison, police said. 

County officials said they will continue to ramp up DWI enforcement details through the New Year's holiday.
