Police reported Saturday afternoon that a concerned Rye Brook said he had received a call from someone identifying himself as "Sharif" from the Port Chester Police Department, saying that the department was in the process of sending officers to his residence to arrest him.

The resident discontinued the call and notified Port Chester Police about the call.

Port Chester Police stated it does not have anyone in the department by the name of "Sharif" and that the call "has all the makings of a scam."

If you are contacted by someone identifying themselves as a member of the Port Chester Police Department or any police department in the area and believe it to be suspicious, you should call that police department and speak with a desk supervisor.
