BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Two people were injured and hospitalized due to a head-on collision involving two vehicles on Route 121, according to Bedford police.

The collision happened on Thursday morning and was near the intersection of Seminary Road, police said. It is believed that the collision happened due to one of the drivers going into the road's opposite lane.

The driver who went into the other lane has not be criminally charged but was issued a traffic ticket, police said.

Police said that one person involved in the collision was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital, which is in Mount Kisco, while another was taken to Westchester Medical Center, which is in Valhalla.

Route 121 was closed for roughly an hour due to the collision, police said.
