Stuck 18-Wheeler, Bear Sighting Top North Castle Police Report

A truck driver put on a real high wire act in White Plains after getting his tractor trailer tangled up on a high tension wire.

Police from North Castle were dispatched outside of Stop & Shop on North Broadway at approximately 7:40 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 4 when there were reports of an 18-wheeler stuck in the midst of several wires.

After advising the truck driver to remain in his vehicle, police assisted a crew from the North White Plains Fire Department in untangling the situation. No injuries were reported and the scene was swiftly cleared.

Other items from the North Castle Police Department blotter between Friday, Aug. 4 and Thursday, Aug. 10 include:

  • On Friday, Aug. 4, police were dispatched to a Half Mile Road home where a caller reported that he had seen a bear making its way through several backyards. Officers conducted a quick sweep of the area, but the bear was gone upon their arrival.
  • On Monday, Aug, 7, a caller reported that he was driving on Route 22 when he was struck by another driver, who continued driving and took off down Banksville Road. After being provided with a description of the vehicle, police canvassed the area for the black SUV but were unable to find the culprit. Officers then responded to the caller’s home to take an incident report.
