State PD: Driver In Bedford Had Pound Of Marijuana

BEDFORD, N.Y.--A Connecticut man was charged with marijuana possession Tuesday when his car was pulled over in Bedford, according to the New York State Police in Somers.

An officer stopped Newton B. Plunkett at around 9:30 p.m. as he drove down Interstate 684 at a speed of 85 mph in a 65 mph zone, police said. The officer's investigation revealed Plunkett, 39, to be in possession of approximately one pound of marijuana, according to police.

The Bristol, Conn. man was charged with third-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a class felony. Plunkett was arraigned in the Town of Lewisboro Court and sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. 

He is scheduled to appear Thursday in the Town of Bedford Court.
