BEDFORD, N.Y. – All six Bedford Hills firefighters hospitalized after fighting a fire that destroyed a vacant home on 27 Brisbee Lane on Saturday have been released from the hospital, Lt. Jeff Dickan of the Bedford Police Department said.

While one of the firefighters from the Bedford Hills Volunteer Fire Department was sent to Westchester Medical Center with what turned out to be minor burns, five more were sent to Northern Westchester Hospital as a precaution. Of those five, one was reportedly trapped for about 20 minutes when the roof collapsed.

The firemen responded to the home in Bedford Hills around 2:55 a.m. after police on patrol saw smoke coming from Bedford Center Road near Bisbee Lane, Dickan said. Mutual aid was provided by several surrounding fire departments, including Bedford, Goldens Bridge, Mount Kisco and others.

The fire was fully involved and the home was a total loss.

The homeowners live in another home, and intended to demolish the house on Bisbee Lane to build something new, according to LoHud.

The fire is not considered suspicious, according to the report.
